The Use Of LyricsTraining Website To Improve Listening Comprehension
Descripción editorial
This paper explores the implementation of a specific ICT, LyricsTraining, which is a website that combines audio and video in order to practice the English language listening skill. According to Newton (2009), the listening skill is one of the most neglected skills when teaching English as a Foreign Language in Mexico given that it suffers from a lack of material and time dedicated to its teaching. Therefore, more practice material, that is accessible to the learner, is needed outside the classroom. LyricsTraining could possibly be a useful option for this purpose. It is a website that provides authentic, current, and interesting material allowing users to play music videos shared on YouTube. The objective of this inquiry, therefore, is to ascertain, by means of using aspects of an Action Research approach, university students’ responses regarding the use of this website.
