# 1 New York Times Bestseller
The inspiration for season two of BRIDGERTON, a series created by Shondaland for Netflix, from #1 New York Times bestselling author Julia Quinn: the story of Anthony Bridgerton in the second of her beloved Regency-set novels featuring the charming, powerful Bridgerton family.
ANTHONY’S STORY
This time the gossip columnists have it wrong. London’s most elusive bachelor Anthony Bridgerton hasn’t just decided to marry—he’s even chosen a wife! The only obstacle is his intended’s older sister, Kate Sheffield—the most meddlesome woman ever to grace a London ballroom. The spirited schemer is driving Anthony mad with her determination to stop the betrothal, but when he closes his eyes at night, Kate’s the woman haunting his increasingly erotic dreams...
Contrary to popular belief, Kate is quite sure that reformed rakes do not make the best husbands—and Anthony Bridgerton is the most wicked rogue of them all. Kate’s determined to protect her sister—but she fears her own heart is vulnerable. And when Anthony’s lips touch hers, she’s suddenly afraid she might not be able to resist the reprehensible rake herself...

I can’t get enough of Anthony
In “The Viscount who loved me”, the storyline shares similarities with The Duke of Hastings and Daphne Bridgerton’s one which I personally found redundant. They are all caught in a compromising situation which force them to get married, both men reject love because of their fears and personal traumas, and at the end they all end up falling in love and living happily ever after. Same story.
What’s more, Anthony’s depiction is romantically less idealised showing a more self-centered and flawed character dominated by an intense childhood trauma. Anthony truly believes he won’t outlive his father, who died at 38 stung by a bee 🐝 Nevertheless, we can also see that lovable and tender side of his and how his love for Kate Sheffield helps him overcome his fears.
Kate Sheffield, on the other hand, is a great female character! Her background story is tough but her personality shines throughout the novel. She’s sensible, caring, selfless and witty.
All in all, it was a pleasant read but I definitely enjoyed the screen adaptation best. I’m more into the slow but intense infatuation process mixed with bewilderment.
