The Young Buglers

"The Young Buglers" is a fascinating (and often hilarious) adventure written by George Alfred Henty. 
The novel tells the story of two young English boys, Tom and Peter Scudamore, who are buglers for an English regiment in Portugal and serve with distinction during the hard-fought battles of the Peninsular War, a military conflict between Napoleon's empire and Bourbon Spain (assisted by the United Kingdom and its ally, Portugal) for control of the Iberian Peninsula.
