In 1890, a biracial young woman, Luella Blair, who is a new money heiress and poet lives in high society. She is the illegitimate child of business investment tycoon Lon Blair. She lives a socialite dream and above the racial privy based on the Blair name from her father. She lived a sheltered life only moving in the circles of who has old and new money. Little does Luella know that she is the center of each peak and connection between her father, mother’s past, and the Blair Investment company itself.

Luella meets a young English man named Everett Ashmore, who comes with a hidden motive into New York society with an apparent mystery and darkness surrounding him. He finds himself attracted to the mysterious beauty, Luella and trying to find himself a wife. Everett and Luella soon fall for one another, yet this doesn’t go unnoticed by her father who soon separates them by forceful endeavors. Lon finds secrets in Everett’s past which he doesn’t want his daughter associated with. They are soon promised to others and get married. They still are in love with one another despite not loving their spouses. Luella and Everett soon engage in an affair. With each peak, it becomes darker as their love amplifies others around them. Luella and Everett must fight stay together, and hid their affair before it becomes the center of attention for others to see.
