The Dawn buried the true history of Lugon 2700 years ago, and Arun is about to discover that his emperor will gladly bury him along with it. Unaware of their danger, Arun and his best friend Baran think they are just completing one last field assignment for their education. Only their chaperone, Athaz, a disgraced Warden, knows just how dark their kingdom of light truly is. After all, his family’s lives are what keep him in line. He’s hardly surprised when he learns during the journey that there is a plan to eliminate them – including him. He is left with an impossible choice: willingly walk into a trap and die with his innocent charges for the sake of his family, or fight back and let his wife and son face the wrath of a sadistic monster.

And as it turns out, Lugon’s history was buried alive. For generations, the forgotten Elves, Dwarves, and Men of the Savanir have been frantically clawing to break back through to the surface. When Vera, granddaughter of the Elven Seer, believes she has discovered a chance to save her people, she will sacrifice everything she – and every pawn she finds – can give to make her visions a reality.

It would seem that leaders on both sides have secrets they would prefer to keep hidden, and a young history scholar is about to unearth truths both would like to forget. Caught between the hammer and anvil of Lugon, will the three adventurers break under the mighty strokes that they are doomed to bear, or will they forge their own path, saving their lives and those they love?
