The large variety of yoga styles available in America today can be both curse and blessing to practitioners, especially relatively new ones. On the one hand, the multitude of yoga styles can leave a practitioner confused and bewildered about what is the right type of yoga for him/her. On the other hand, the ability to experience different yoga styles can aid a practitioner to identify the right type of yoga for him/her.
Although it seems like at least a couple of new types of yoga are introduced in America on a regular basis, this book focuses on the most widely available ones. The different types of yoga presented in this book include:
• Vinyasa Flow
Descriptions and stories about what you can expect to typically experience when stepping onto the mat in any of the covered yoga styles are provided. This book will hopefully provide sufficient information to help you determine what yoga style may be the most appropriate and beneficial for you.
In addition, you will learn about the requirements teachers of each yoga style generally must possess in order to teach. Did you know there are over 70,000 yoga teachers registered with Yoga Alliance’s program who generally teach Vinyasa Flow based classes and less than 200 teachers authorized by the K. Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute to teach Ashtanga yoga in America?
This book strives to get you started on your yoga journey by taking the most important step of all: stepping onto the mat and beginning or growing your practice.
