Magic only brings trouble.

Marii, a girl learning the trade of a natural healer, loves spending time with her father who guards a dangerous magical bridge. He loves his family and only wants them to stay safe.

She often keeps him company when he guards the bridge, but this time she sees fire in the sky. That can only mean danger. But danger has many disguises, and staying safe is not as easy as it ought to be.

This is the second story in Felicia Fredlund's Sorceress Islands series. A dark fantasy short story well worth the read.
