Publisher Description
In 1999 Gerry van Roosmalen first set foot on Icelandic Soil. It was his wish ever since he saw footage of the 1973 eruption on the Westman Islands. Fascinated by this spectacular phenomenon of Mother Nature Gerry knew he had to go and visit this magical country. After his first visit in 1999 many more followed.
In 2012 his first paperback titled “Ode aan IJsland”, was published in the Netherlands. In 2013 this publication was translated into English as “Ode to Iceland” and published in the iBooks Store worldwide. The book often is described as a poetic view on Iceland.
Experimenting with infrared photography Gerry realized that Iceland, “the land of elves and trolls” would be done justice with this type of photography. The first digital infrareds of Iceland, he shot back in 2006. As weather conditions are not always ideal for this kind of photography he often returned to the same spots to reshoot the scenery. And he probably will return many times to shoot it again.
