In the original InstaKnits she delivered a variety of quick-to-knit, Instagram-worthy patterns for adults, but what about all of the adorable knits for babies? In InstaKnits for Baby she has designed blankets, sweaters, hats, booties, toys, and more in bright pops of color--perfect for any new baby's close-up!
Patterns are organized in sections by the time it takes to knit them, from less than five hours to just over 20 hours, so you can plan your knitting accordingly and know that your gift will be ready when baby arrives. There are 30 patterns in all, sized from newborn to 24 months. Baby shower this weekend? Better stick with a Pixie Hat, Stuffed Froggy, or something else from the "less than five hours" chapter. Insta-Knits for Baby is sure to become your favorite resource for all those last-minute baby gift ideas!
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
In this breezy guide, Leapman (The Beginner's Guide to Mosaic Knitting) explains how to knit clothes, blankets, and toys for children ages zero to two. She prioritizes simplicity and speed, with almost half of the 30 projects requiring less than five hours to complete. These include "preppy socks" worked in the round, a "cute caterpillar" toy consisting of five stuffed balls sewn together, and a "just ducky" blanket featuring a duck's bill on one corner and two feet stitched onto the sides opposite. Leapman also includes alternate measurements so knitters can adjust clothing sizes for different age ranges; for instance, measurements for 0–6, 6–9, 9–12, and 12–24 month-olds are provided for the "lamb hat" (which sports ears sticking out from its sides). Projects estimated to take five to 10 hours include a button-up hoodie, a bib with a rocking horse on it, and a stuffed rabbit. Even the most time-consuming pieces require only beginner-friendly techniques, such as the "giraffe blankie," which is estimated to take 21 hours to finish and mainly consists of stockinette stitch. Leapman assumes readers will bring basic-level knitting skills, but those who need a refresher will benefit from the step-by-step illustrations of such techniques as casting on and knitting into the front and back of a stitch. Knitters pressed for time will appreciate this.
