"Until the adventure that I am about to relate, I had been a tolerably well-behaved North Carolina boy." In 1914 Ben Muse, then 16 years old and just out of high school, decided he had been behaving himself for too long. He left his family home in Durham, North Carolina, and head for Mexico City to observe and report on the Mexican Revolution, then at its height. While there he managed to meet the Primer Jefe, Venustiano Carranza, and watched his triumphal entry into Mexico City. Here are the recollections of the older Ben Muse, recording the earliest adventures of what would be an adventurous life.
