Publisher Description
Salvatore "Sally Burns" Granello was a multifaceted Genovese mobster with close ties to the Lucchese crime syndicate. Granello was charged by the IRS with tax evasion for the years 1956 and 1957. Federal agents sometimes called Granello "the crown prince of the underworld". One of Granello's main Lucchese associates was James Plumeri. Both men had business ties to Teamsters Union boss James Riddle "Jimmy" Hoffa. Granello and Plumeri divided loan kickbacks made to them from the Teamsters Central States Pension Fund. The funds were originally loaned to businesses in Florida, New Jersey and New York.
