Space & Time is the story of Four Russian families who participate in a mission to colonize Mars in 1968.  It begins in a time that America thinks it is winning the space race by going to the Moon.  Sergei Groschev is the mission commander and the story focuses his daughter, Mikhailya.


Space &Time begins on the eve of Mikhailya's sixteenth birthday.  They have been on Mars for a year.  Communication was lost due to an accident during lift-off on Earth and no one back home knows if they even made it to their destination.  During explorations, the team discovers a new element, Petorium.  The crew’s science officer, Leon Sikorsky has been studying the element and has uncovered its carbon molecule stabilizing properties.  An accident during his research causes the element to vaporize and spread throughout the colony.  This catches the crew off guard, they all succumb to the power of the vapors and their molecules are frozen in cryo-stasis until 2027.


An event occurs that clears the vapors and the crew awakens.  As they discover the news of how much time has passed they also learn the colony began falling apart during their stasis. An immediate evacuation back to Earth is ordered.  The darkest side of a traitor is revealed.


The journey back to Earth doesn't go as planned.  When they do make it back, the team is split up and identities are revealed, NSA and KGB.  A race across Europe ensues from the Ukraine to Paris as the teenagers on the mission work out a plan to obtain cash and get safely away from their pursuers.  The properties of the valuable new element are presented to covert agencies and they work against each other to obtain it, placing the teens in the middle.  Mikhailya is challenged to assume the role she is forced into by the tragedy she went through.  The love of her brothers keeps her going.  Two boys, Fredrik and Alexei, vie for her attention and she can't confront her emotions to choose either one. 


The story ends with Mikhailya leading a rescue mission. The results of this last ditch effort irreversibly change Mikhailya, altering her destiny forever.
