De Re Militari (Military Institutions of the Romans) is a work by Flavius Vegetius Renatus to the Emperor of Rome. It was written to present and explain the methods and practices which brought Rome to the height of its power and glory. Vegetius emphasized the selection, training, and discipline of soldiers. He also discussed strategy, tactics, and logistics. 


De Re Militari was the premier guide in Europe on all matters military through the Middle Ages. To this day, it is one of the most influential military works of all time.
