The Reforms at the Exchequer

The Exchequer controlled English royal finance. Little has been written about finance in the 1250s and 1260s, the time of baronial rebellion and reform. This short book presents new information, suggesting that Henry III's finances were healthier than is often assumed, and that the reforming council achieved some initial success in running a more efficient and less oppressive financial administration.
