Ulysses

Ulysses is a modernist novel, written by Irish novelist and poet James Joyce, published by Sylvia Beach in 1922 in Paris. It is often regarded as one of the most important works of modernist literature and has been called “a demonstration and summation of the entire movement”.


The story is divided into eighteen episodes. The book might seem to be unstructured and chaotic at first view. It can be characterized as full of puns, parodies, and allusions, as well as its rich characterizations and broad humor. Ulysses includes stream-of-consciousness technique, careful structuring, and experimental prose.
