William MacLeod Raine, was an American novelist. He worked as a reporter and editorial writer for local newspapers. He was best known for his fictional adventure stories about the American Old West. Twenty of his novels have been screened. Despite his prolificacy, he was a careful, conscientious worker, he was aimed at accurate details, and considered himself a craftsman rather than an artist.

The main action of this novel concluded in terms of the opposition of two families. The setting is in the country in the early 1900's. There was no entertainment for the teenagers of in the neighborhood. The daughter of one family wanted to go to the local dances, but her father forbids it. She didn’t listen to him and met a boy of the feuding family. She is so hungry for the attention he gave to her. She hadn't had much kindness from her family since her mom died.
