A New-Fashioned Flavoring

Mrs. Clay went off for a week's visit to see her sister leaving her two eldest children, Ivy and Edmund, in charge of the six youngest ones. Edmund really wanted to go to college when he left school but they were too poor for that to happen. Then Uncle Eugene came to visit unexpectedly and Ivy had to bake something nice for tea. However, there was something different about the flavor!
