A Pretty Prison

A well-seasoned older woman writer, Vista Dunn, visits her daughter in New Mexico only to find a few days later that her house in Northern California has been destroyed in a massive wildfire, torching the entire town as well as her life's body of work. Was the fire intentional or accidental? And where will she live now that she's virtually homeless?

At the same time, an old lover in Ireland is proposing a screenplay based on her relationship to a just-deceased famous American writer, bringing up haunting memories of unfulfilled literary longings. Now that she's lost everything, Vista begins re-inventing herself and starts uncovering unsavory truths that affect not only her life, but those of all Americans. Is she going crazy or waking up?
