Lewis Rholf, Maine writer of experimental fiction, was lost when he went to New York on business in September 2001. Five years later, his widow Maxine Rholf must face financial crises, kids and pets in trouble, the souring of her friendship with Byron. She cannot adjust to life without Lewis.
