Emmett Gibson sunk his billions into creating his vision of Utopian America, a town called Freedom. After declaring their independence, Freedom exists secretly in rural California. The town has become a home for people who want to live a pure libertarian existence away from the country none of them believe in.

As Emmett's riches dwindle he decides to sell his farm to a new freedom loving resident who embodies the spirit of the town but lacks the racial makeup of the rest of the residents.
