A book about mountaineering written by famed British surgeon and mountaineer, Clinton Dent. The book focuses on Dent's climb of Aiguille du Dru, as well as many other general aspects of mountaineering. Dent explores the motivations for climbing, the gear and technology necessary, as well as the psychological aspects of mountaineering in the late 19th century.
