In the shadow of a relentless downpour that swells rivers and threatens to drown an entire region, historical researcher Marie Corintho finds herself unraveling the threads of a century-old secret. Buried in the decaying journals of a once-prominent family lies a chilling mystery: the existence of a beast that has haunted the town.

With the reluctant help of investigative journalist Gavin Rossiter, Marie follows the clues to a truth far darker than either of them imagined. As the rain unleashes a catastrophic 500-year flood, they race against the rising waters to uncover what one family has fought to keep hidden for generations.

But as history's horror comes to life, the pair faces a harrowing choice—stand against the terror they've unearthed or watch as the beast claims the lives of those around them. In this pulse-pounding tale of courage, secrets, and survival, Marie and Gavin must decide: how much of the past should stay buried?
