The narrative, set in New York City, Tokyo and other places in Japan, explores a unique approach to acculturation. Its literary style contrasts recollections of history and memories with contemporary events.
Two independent individuals, both haunted by simultaneous but separate traumatic seven-year-old personal tragedies, happen to meet after a university lecture in Tokyo.
