The Hasani are a war-like people that live life with vigor. Aella is a young woman at odds with her destiny and the life she has been given. While Hasani women are also statuesque and athletic, Aella can't fight the feeling that she is still expected to be nothing more than a warrior's wife.


She has a lot of adventure in her still and doesn't want to live life on anyone's terms but her own.


However, her heart strings still sing for Leandro, Aella's best friend who she hasn't seen since he left with the elders to participate in the rites of passage into manhood. Leandro has returned older, more mature, more handsome, but with more of a grasp of the horrors that life has in store.


They forged an oath of friendship before Leandro left a few years ago. With both of them at a crossroads, newly christened into adulthood and seeing the future in front of them, will a childhood oath be enough to bring them back together or will some other twist of fate alter their relationship?
