A fast moving dark fantasy, rich in mythology with religious undertones. 

Mianda's life changed forever when she was six. Born in the Congo in 524, she was used to danger: wild animals, killer insects, consuming fire, winter famine, witches, evil spirits. 

Nothing compared to the night her mother killed a lion who attacked them while they slept. The next morning, when Mianda woke up, she had one blue eye.

Blue like the sky. Blue like the Kingfisher. Blue like the Gods.

Her grandmother said it was because the Gods had touched her. But everyone else thought it was because she'd been cursed. Sometimes she agreed with them because the Gods refused to answer her. And trouble followed her like a shadow.

Can Mianda survive the betrayals and plots against her family? Or the enemy's attempt to prevent fulfilment of the prophecy she didn't even know existed?
