‘Call’ to First Ward

In the series finale, Tim struggles to stay alive (barely) all-the-while an assemblance of fond characters from previous ‘calls’ come into play either through recollections of their friend or later in a desperate search and rescue effort.

In his pursuit of two bad guys who defrauded a friend’s elderly mother, Tim starts-out in South Buffalo, namely the notorious First Ward. Hot on the trail of the swindlers, he makes acquaintance with a French Canadian exotic dancer who sees Tim as a ticket out of her oppressed life. But fear not, he remains focused on his targets unaware of how the pursuit leads him directly into danger—the kind that severely incapacitates him. Fortunately, a good-natured angel of mercy tends to his mending.

Side stories involve MAC Security Consulting’s protection of a billionaire’s son from anti-LGBTQ+ extremists. At the same time, Tim’s teen sidekick, Nigel, has hands full (literally) defending his sparring partner from a loan shark’s ‘leg breakers.’ And Tim’s love-partner, Allison Watson, makes her career change out of personal security back to being a city school’s resource officer.

Each character in this story reflects on personal interactions with Tim, thus providing a finished definition to this novel series’ main character.

The theme of the story is prescience—knowing something before it happens.
