Shorthand/typist Claribel struggles to find another job after her London employer goes bust in the economic difficulties of the early eighties. At last she's offered a post at a country estate in rural Wiltshire, but she's not sure she wants it. The signs are not good. On her first day a Rolls Royce almost knocks her off her bike.
