The occupational health became my particular interest while I was doing the Remote and Offshore Medicine programme from the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh. The interest became more robust whenever the statistics of the injuries and illness of the area that I have dealt with are analysed. Over half a century, various laws related to OSH were ratified in the country. The factories Act 1951 is the primary governing law primarily in the manufacturing sector while the enactment of the OSH law is being awaited by most of the International organisations.
In March 2019, the Occupational Safety and Health law was enacted and the law mandated different clauses for the better health and safety of the workers.
Being a doctor working at the medical assistance company, the changes in occupational health or workplace health in the country is continually observed. This document is the Birdseye view of the current occupational health outlook of the country
