Description de l’éditeur

PUBLISHING IN THE INFORMATION AGE The Information Age started when more than 50% of the population was employed in providing information. In the USA, this happened in the early 1970's. An entire generation has now been raised in the Information Age. Education, employment, and even recreation depend on the availability of information. This realization prompted the assertion that, "In the Information Age, access to information is a fundamental human right" (from George Kerscher's ITC experts panel presentation to the United Nations, Bangkok June, 2002). Persons with disabilities which prevent them from reading print have long been deprived of access to the same information as the rest of the population. However, advancing technologies and the supporting standards are making it possible to meet these fundamental human needs in our information society.
