We’ve all looked upon the UK Top 40 at some point in the last few years with undeniable disdain, whether it be for the seemingly eternal dominance of dance music or the baffling success of mediocre one hit wonders. But that’s not to say that the charts can’t restore your faith in music; “Wasting Light”, the seventh studio effort by Foo Fighters shot straight to the top of the album charts upon its release, showing that despite the overwhelming suggestions of the contrary, Rock and Roll isn’t dead after all. Their success to this point was totally deserved by their frontman and lead songwriter Dave Grohl, who had toiled away for 17 years at the top, succeeding in his mission to shrug off the tag of “that guy from Nirvana” and instead become a musical legend in his own right.
Grohl’s creative dynamism only came to our attention when he became the powerhouse drummer of grunge legends Nirvana, but this was really just one musical step in a career spanning more than 25 years.
This is the unofficial story of Dave Grohl.
