Whit Blanchard, from the cattle town of McPherson, Kansa, learns at the age of nineteen that his best friend Richard has committed suicide. Whit's response is to pause his studies at Kansas State to travel alone to Spain. Sketch book in hand, he meets Hernan from Venezuela and together they travel to Lisbon, and Tangier.
