Fastnet

The Fastnet Rock stands sentinel off the extreme southwest coast of Ireland, its century-old lighthouse continuing simultaneously to warn and to guide sailors as they approach Ireland’s Atlantic coast.  Its name in the Irish language, An Charraig Aonar translates as ‘The Rock that Stands Alone,’ the simplicity of the name belying its mythical status. It is also a beacon and turning point in the World famous yacht race that is held every two years and aptly titled, the Rolex Fastnet Race. 


This interactive multi-touch book charts the development of the lighthouse over its life span, its relationship with the men who built it and the sports men who race around her.
