Hawaii is called the Big Island to avoid confusion with the archipelago and is the largest of the Hawaii islands. Kailua-Kona is the busiest town on the leeward side and nearby is the tourist area on the Kohala Coast. Hilo is the largest town on the windward side of the island. Maui is the second largest of the Hawaiian Islands (after the Big Island) and is one of the eight major islands of the Hawaiian archipelago.
