KESC FIRED 4500 EMPLOYEES BUT FORCED TO REINSTATE THEM AFTER GOVT. INTERVENTION, ISSUES NOT RESOLVED YET KARACHI, Jan.24: Despite strong protests and resentment expressed by labour leaders, the Karachi Electric Supply Company laid off on January 19 about 4,500 employees who did not opt for its voluntary separation scheme. But five days later after intense deliberations and government's intercession, the sacked employees were reinstated on January 23 as the company withdrew the sacking order. The core issues has not been resolved yet and deliberation may go on for months.
