I rule with blood and silence. Kings don't ask. We take.

When she crosses my path, she isn't meant to be anything more than leverage—an inconvenience tied to an old grudge and a family mistake. I plan to use her. Break her if I have to. 

But she looks at me like I'm not a monster. Like I'm a man.

I drag her into my world of violence and vows— threats whispered in the dark. 

I cage her in silk and steel, tell myself it's only business that her fear means nothing. That the way her breath shakes when I touch her is just another weakness I can exploit.

I'm wrong.

Because once she's mine, I don't just want her obedience. I want her loyalty. Her fire. Her soul. And I'll burn cities to keep her breathing.
