Jonathan Dickinson's Journal

This narrative of a shipwreck on the Florida coast in 1696 and the suffering and heroism of the survivors was first published in Philadelphia three years later under the title GOD'S PROTECTING PROVIDENCE . So great and so sustained was the interest the account aroused on both sides of the Atlantic that it was reprinted no less than sixteen times in England and America, and three times each in Dutch and German translations, all between 1699 and 1869. It is now known as Jonathan Dickinson's Journal.
