Laura MacKenna loves antiques and receives a very old book as a gift. As she begins to read it, she feels sick and a strange man, Rayther Dunston, appears in her bedroom. He tells her she summoned him.

When he says he was born in 1732, she feels pretty certain he's delusional. When he says she has seven days to decide to keep him as a mate she knows he's either scamming her or completely crazy. When he keeps showing up in her apartment in an odd way she thinks stalker.

A witch name Maud set up the book to give deserving women a gift. If women decide not to keep a man, Maud becomes very angry.
