A maverick cop strives to become a team player.

That’s just one of the challenges facing Victoria Police homicide detective Sergeant Lewis McBride. He’s under close internal scrutiny for having fatally shot a suspect when he becomes lead investigator into two seemingly interconnected murders.

One sees the suspects for the brutal bashing of a businessman narrowed down to a highly placed person, against whom the force is reluctant to act without more convincing evidence from McBride and his team.

The other revolves around a Melbourne nightclub, a remote location clandestine drug lab, and an Eastern European drug syndicate with suspected police involvement.

Complicating McBride’s life is the nitpicking from his superior officer, the none too subtle advances from a female colleague, and the nagging phone calls from his ex wife over access to their young daughter. And then the drug related case becomes very personal for McBride…
