Barb's newfound magical ability to find lost things through gift-wrapping has given her a lot: a new job, new friendships, and the chance to right some of the wrongs committed by her husband. She even does a favour for her daughter-in-law and agrees to pet sit Prince Hairy, a handsome cat with an ugly collar.

While balancing the demands of the new job and helping out her friend, Kat, at the Valentine's Day Market, Barb still gives back to her community by finding lost pets and missing persons. Sure, there are online rumours to squash, the local busybody still pesters her, and the police check up on her way too often, but overall, life is good.

Until one day, when her new boss assigns her a case that strikes a little too close to home . . .
