No Sex, Please; You Are Indians‪!‬

Satire combines with observation to examine the strange reality of sex today in the land of the Kama Sutra. Examining India’s struggle with the forces of sexual repression (partly the result of Western colonialism), India's love-hate relationship with beauty queens, Miss Universe Sushmita Sen, and Khushwant Singh’s opinions on Indian repression and Puritanism, the suggestions are sometimes tongue-in-cheek. The book consists mainly of essays selected from Richard Crasta’s controversial 1997 book, “Beauty Queens, Children, and the Death of Sex,” which was censored and prevented from reaching most Indian readers. The essays suggest that the West’s policy has changed from “The only good Indian is a dead Indian” to a pro-Suitable Boy “The only good Indian male is a sexless Indian male.”.


This book will most likely interest those readers who like non-pc, subversive, and contrarian writing, who despise censorship and wish to support censored authors, and/or those who are acquainted with India. Perhaps 10-15 percent of the humor consists of Indian words blended with English words (also called biriyani English!), and may not be fully accessible to Western readers, but there is enough red meat, argument, and satirical delight here for most readers.


These essays are being published for the first time in digital format or anywhere outside India; and include two excerpts from "Impressing the Whites" that drive home the book's theme.


The essays combine humor, tongue-in-cheek statement, politically incorrect commentary, and serious examination of sexual issues and of modern Indians' often tortured and confused attitudes towards sex.


As this book was published by an author for whom freedom of expression and integrity are important values, no changes have been made to the text, except for corrections made in the 2-3 years after the original publication.


The pen name "Vijay Prabhu" is used only because it is a name of the protagonist of his first novel. It is used a matter of convenience, and has no other significance whatsoever.
