Once Upon a Poem

...Within you rests my flame, and all that's in between,

The innermost jingle I hum between my ears,

The warm and gentle breeze soothing my darkest fears,

And the blue skies above, as a much favorable screen.

Loud in my indigence, I come now bearing gifts,

The kind slight and petty that troubles all our dreams,

The kind that once offered comes apart at all seams,

The kind pulled from all kinds of those you'd never thrift.

For I curtail my life to what you so offer.

Just as the glass reflects the tincture of its wine,

Just like living branches get their sap from the vine,

Just like when far from you I stifle and suffer...
