OpenSPARC T1 and T2 are the first and only open-source CMT (Chip Multi-Threaded) microprocessors and first and only open-source 64-bit microprocessors in existence. A full T1 design comprises 8 cores (32 threads), while T2 is 8 cores (64 threads). This book includes an overview of how OpenSPARC can be put to academic or commerical use, setting up development environment, reconfiguring the deisgns to differing numbers of threads or cores, synthesizing OpenSPARC T1 into FPGA solutions, configuring/using OpenSPARC simulation software, compiling software for an OpenSPARC target processor, and some dives into the OpenSPARC source code itself.
