Parvenu

A story of the British Merchant Navy in the early fifties. The fictional voyage of the M.V. Parvenu, one of the many tramp ships. Her established officers and newly signed on crew. The ship plying anywhere for any cargo. The differing attitudes and personalities. The excursions ashore, the anecdotes, the living in cramped conditions. Nothing is forever. The era depicted in this story is gone, as is most of the practices. The British Merchant Seaman, a free spirit, has become a button pushing 'technician'. Perhaps with all the old skills, but not the need to use them.. I hope this is a reminder of the way some of it was.
