Description de l’éditeur

"Polish Circus" is a collection of cartoon strips made by Polish cartoonist Jacek Siegmund. The book includes the pictures previously published in the Polish media only. The cartoons have never been translated into English before so the foreign reader will have the first opportunity to meet the author’s works. If anyone wants to know the truth about Poland, he can quickly find it in this kind of mocking but still truthful commentaries of the artist that has been living and creating in this country. The author is uncompromising in his works as has been freelancing for twenty years so he does not consider any topics as the forbidden ones and knows no limits. His cartoons are often labeled as politically incorrect and cannot be published. You can find some of them in the book, among them one relating to the famous Wiretapping Scandal in Poland, during which the Foreign Affairs Minister Radoslaw Sikorski expressed in rough words his opinion about Polish foreign policy toward United States. All the Polish newspapers were writing about it. Jacek Siegmund has created the cartoon exactly illustrating Sikorski’s words, although the papers still have not dared to publish it. The cartoon is included in this book so everyone can check why in Poland it is possible to talk and write about some things but it still is undesirable to illustrate them.
