Resistance and Praxis Felix Guattari (1984) once remarked that the October Revolution did not bring about the hoped-for transformation because the relations between the foreman and the worker or the husband and the wife were no different than they were under capitalist relations. No work of resistance, in the sense of an uprising against oppression and indoctrination, can acquire depth and significance without examining to see what elements of the oppressor it has secretly or unknowingly assimilated, what values of the enemy it has admitted against its own best interests, what assumptions have crept in while it was busy looking elsewhere, and what ground was already presumed even before the resistance began.
