Bedford Girls’ School is located in Bedfordshire around an hour north of London. We were created from the merger of two traditional girls’ schools in 2011. BGS is an independent day school for girls aged 7-18 years old and operated by the Harpur Trust. 


In 2013, we conducted a trial of one-to-one iPad with Year 8 students and worked with the University of Hull to measure the success of using iPads in learning. 


iPads are now used on a 1:1 basis across the Junior School, Senior School, and Sixth Form, and all teachers in the school, with over 1,000 devices on campus. 


Many of our teachers embed iTunes U in their practice and we have a Digital Content Developer on staff who helps us curate and publish some very high-quality textbooks using iBooks Author.


Teachers regularly use apps like Explain Everything, iMovie, Socrative and Google Drive.
