After a failed attempt on his life, the discredited former CIA head of operations calls on the private investigator Saffron Price, once one of his most trusted field operatives, to expose what lay behind the attack.

Her subsequent enquiries pitch her against Russian agents and ruthless gangsters employed by the Kremlin.  Unsurprisingly the body count mounts, but once again her own family are at risk as Saffron uncovers an intricate plot to unmask one the agency's most valuable double agents.
