Description de l’éditeur
Robert Asprin’s “excellent, lighthearted fantasy series” (Epic Illustrated) continues with more antics from magician Skeeve and his eclectic team at M.Y.T.H., Inc.
Business is slow for M.Y.T.H., Inc., and its president, Bunny, is getting nervous that the company might not meet its quarterly goal. So when a job comes in that’s worth an absurd amount of gold—and also happens to take them to Winslow, the most luxurious vacation resort in any dimension—the team jumps at the opportunity to recoup some cash and maybe catch some R&R.
Only, magician Skeeve has an unsettling feeling that this mission might be trickier than it seems. Someone in Winslow is messing with the magic lines and working hard to ensure that the M.Y.T.H. crew gets nowhere near the powerful relic that they’ve been hired to find. And as the mysterious manipulation turns deadly, Skeeve, Bunny, Aahz, and the rest of their partners find themselves in a race not only to finish the job but also to escape paradise alive…
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
It helps to have read previous books in the series (13 by Robert Asprin, seven by Asprin and Nye, and two by Nye alone) or to have a cheat-sheet for the characters' home dimensions, races, and abilities (Wikipedia's article is a good guide), but once readers can follow what's going on, they'll find that 23rd Myth fantasy is a fast and sprightly adventure with diverse, lively characters. Skeeve, a young magician, and his companions are hired to find the magical Loving Cup. They locate it in Winslow, a pleasure resort, but before they can acquire it they are thrust into Maire, a nasty alternate dimension, and sentenced to death for the crime of being there. They barely escape execution and continue the hunt, but now there are five cups. Before they can determine which is the real cup, all five disappear. Is this tied up with the drying up of the magical lines of force? Is the beautiful Dorinda friend or enemy? All is resolved in a flurry of activity and a dollop of magic, and Skeeve is ready for his next Myth. This is a charming continuation of a long-beloved series.
