Keely Montgomery has never met death— until the night she receives a
recruitment letter to become one of Heaven's Holy Assassins.

Living in a low rent apartment in the urban center of Water Point Station, NJ, her goals in life are to obtain her Masters then Ph.D. in social work to help the less fortunate. One night while working as a bartender in a local pool hall, she receives a recruitment scroll by angelic courier from the Office of Death and Dismemberment, a subsidiary of heaven, to become a Scythe. Naturally, a complete freak out is in order. Believing the letter is a joke, she tells the courier she's not interested. But heaven can be very persistent.

Detective Josiah Adler comes from a long line of police officers. Over the course of his career there have been very few crimes he hasn't been able to solve. So when a blonde beauty shows up around dead bodies wielding a golden blade, Josiah wants
nothing more than to nail her.
