Australia, “the brown land down-under”: pre Colonial 'settlement'. There is a strange element abroad in Djumbundji's country. Rumours of slaves, terrifying monsters and human sacrifice have reached the elder responsible for the maintenance of Law in his sacred dreaming-lands. Further enquiry reveals something awful, growing and utterly shameless – the antithesis of the ancient dreaming Law his people follow. The anxious elder requests help from the Fethafoot: the clever-man Clan – Kadaitcha – black-magic warriors. Surprising the elder completely, the warrior the dread Clan send to examine and solve the problem is a woman. However, as Djumbundji is to find out, Rtapu Rtikarrha is all woman and a lethally deadly warrior.
